Unihertz: building a differentiated phone portfolio, one launch at a time

From the first Jelly to compact, rugged and physical-keyboard phones, we have worked with Unihertz across its product portfolio to connect crowdfunding launches, customer feedback and continued market growth.

Start with a preference that mainstream products overlook

The original Jelly gave people a simple reason to pay attention: a very small smartphone. It did not need to meet every buyer’s preference to find demand. It needed to give the right people a recognizable alternative.

In 2017, Jelly attracted 10,964 Kickstarter backers and US$1,251,380 in pledges. We worked with Unihertz from that first launch and continued supporting overseas crowdfunding and market development across the product portfolio.

Give each product family its own reason to exist

Compact phones, rugged devices and physical-keyboard models address different priorities. Jelly focuses on portability, Atom connects compactness with rugged use, and Titan serves people who want a physical keyboard.

We connect these families through the brand while keeping their messages distinct. A buyer should recognize Unihertz and still understand why this particular model is relevant. A shared brand does not remove the need for product-specific positioning.

Turn one launch into useful input for the next

Crowdfunding creates direct contact with early buyers. Their questions, usage experiences and requests can show the team what matters after the purchase decision. We connect those market signals with the next product discussion.

Feedback needs context. A request for battery life or a different form factor becomes useful when the team understands the underlying task. That makes it easier to improve the next generation without losing the difference that attracted buyers in the first place.

Keep the relationship moving between launches

Our work with Unihertz has continued from the first Jelly through the broader differentiated-phone portfolio. Each launch adds experience in positioning, content, audience development and communication that can support the next release.

For a new model, existing customers need a clear upgrade story. New audiences need a reason to choose the brand for the first time. We approach those decisions separately, then connect them in a coordinated launch.

A focused position can support sustained demand

Titan 2 attracted 7,019 backers and about US$2.08 million in pledges. Titan 2 Elite attracted 8,836 backers and about US$4.07 million. Across generations, a clear product difference continued to bring thousands of people into a new launch.

For teams planning more than one hardware release, our focus is both immediate and long term: make this launch work, and retain the customer understanding, content and brand recognition that give the next launch a stronger starting point.
